DISCOVERY – Student Volunteering Swansea
Registered Charity No: 256146
In all likelihood if you live in Swansea you’ll know someone who’s benefited from a Discovery project.
We run over 25 projects in the community ranging from gardening and decorating services for vulnerable adults to a youth group for autistic children.
All of our projects are led by volunteers who are students at the University and give their spare time to help out wherever they see a need. Recent research found that 73% of our service users feel Discovery provides a strictly necessary service. Without the work that the volunteers carry out all over the city many people would loose out on precious contact time and activities with the volunteers.
Projects include:
- trips for disadvantaged children,
- youth work with refugees and asylum seeker children,
- environmental projects,
- youth club for autistic children,
- café with mental health service users,
- breakfast for homeless people,
- gardening and decorating for vulnerable adults,
- dance club for children,
- running a fruit and vegetable co-operative and much much more!
