There are many ways you can support our work. Money, time and goods are all needed.

GIFT AID

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase your gift by at least 28p for every £1 you donate by signing a Gift Aid Declaration (MS Word Document) to enable the Swansea Charity Partnership to reclaim the tax you have paid.

What we need most of all is regular support so we can plan our services for the community. You can do this by:

  • Giving through your payroll.
Follow this link for more details.
  • Completing a standing order form. If you are a taxpayer, don’t forget to sign the Gift Aid section which means that we can reclaim the tax you have paid. This will increase your donation to us by 28%.*. You can also complete a standing order form at Swansea Building Society.

*Until April 2008 when changes in taxation come into effect. However, donations will continue to remain tax effective.

Legacies

As the largest single source of income to UK charities, legacies make a vital difference to good causes across the country. A legacy allows you to make your mark on the world by providing for a good cause that is close to your heart. Free of inheritance tax, a donation made in your will can also help reduce the tax burden on your estate.

How does it work?

A charitable legacy could be a gift of money or of any other assets that you leave behind. While there are a number of options to consider, there are two main types of charitable legacies; pecuniary and residuary. Pecuniary legacies specify a sum of money or item of value to be donated, whilst a residuary legacy allows you to donate a percentage of the net value of your estate or the remaining sum after you have provided for family and friends.

What do you need to do?

To leave a legacy to charity, you simply need to include details of the donation in your will. This can be done by writing a will, by making an amendment or ‘codicil’ to an existing will or by setting up a Trust. Your solicitor or professional adviser will be able to tell you more.

If you leave a legacy to the Swansea Charity Partnership you will make a lasting gift to our local community. For further information visit Her Majesties Revenue and Customs website:

Volunteers

We always need volunteers. Our member charities work in very different areas of need in our community so we can offer something of interest to everyone. We welcome volunteers from all sections of the community regardless of ethnic background, age or ability. Please contact the individual charity working in your area of interest or, if you are unsure of what you would like to do, contact the Swansea Council for Voluntary Service.

We would also like to hear from people within the business community who have specific expertise such as law, finance and HR who would be interested in becoming a charity Trustee. Trustees have responsibilities for ensuring the charity meets its legal and moral obligations. We therefore need to ensure our Trustees have a broad range of skills. If you are interested in becoming a charity Trustee, please contact Denise Hughes at the Swansea Charity Partnership or, alternatively, contact the Swansea Council for Voluntary Service.

Donate Goods and Services

The charities in our Partnership welcome donations of goods and services that can help us in our work. If you think you can help us with unwanted goods, or by offering your service voluntarily, please contact the relevant charity direct. Alternatively, contact Denise Hughes at the Swansea Charity Partnership or contact the Swansea Council for Voluntary Service.
